How Many Axles Does Your Vehicle Have?
Most passenger vehicles are considered to have 2 axles for classification purposes. To determine the number of axles on a vehicle, look at the vehicle from the side profile and count the number of wheels or pairs of wheels from front to back. The graphic shows several examples.
